Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to visit this website to find out more about this exciting leadership opportunity at the Improvement Service.

Over the last 15 years, we have been establishing a reputation as the ‘go to’ organisation for Local Government improvement in Scotland, and the person appointed to this role will continue to embed this. We work with all 32 councils in Scotland to encourage collaboration, share good practice and develop innovative approaches to shared challenges.

Our new Chief Executive will play a central part in shaping how our organisation continues to be at the forefront of innovation in public services. This is a role where a committed public servant can make an immense contribution to people’s lives across Scotland. It presents a unique perspective across Scottish Local Government and an ideal platform to make connections, influence decision makers, and harness the capacity of different organisations to add maximum value.

It requires a leader with a highly developed understanding of the current and emerging Local Government agenda; who understands the inherent dynamics between national priorities and local issues; and who can connect policy to action on the ground and better outcomes for communities.

It’s a role which will see you working at the forefront of innovation in the sector, and will give you access to decision makers across Scotland. If you want to make a mark, there couldn’t be a better place to do it.

The Improvement Service has engaged Solace in Business to support them in making this key appointment. I encourage you to contact them on 020 7976 3311 to discuss the opportunity in more detail.

Good luck in your application
